世界のアワビ類のなかでも最もカラフルな貝の一つと言われるニュージーランドの「パウア貝」の貝殻です。
海の中では砂や岩のような素朴な姿で過ごすパウア貝ですが、時間をかけて丁寧に磨かれることによりブルー・グリーン・パープルなど寒色がメインの神秘的な輝きが夢のように浮き出てきます。
別名アバロンシェルとも呼ばれています。
